HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN A
LANGUAGE ON DUOLINGO?
Duolingo states that they have several independent studies which have concluded that 34 hours of Duolingo learning equates to a semester of language education university: I do believe this is correct! Let’s say you commit to 20 minutes everyday on Duolingo: it will take you 102 days, so half the time it would take you learning a language at school
I believe this is correct because I learned Spanish in a semester at university 20 years ago and my teen daughter has been using the free subscription of Duolingo from the start of our trip here in Costa Rica and learned enough Spanish in a few months to be able to travel around Costa Rica by herself.
See below my personal review of Duolingo both looking inside the platform and the experience & results my teen daughter got from using it:
Duolingo was created in 2009
Duolingo is an educational platform for learning languages and obtain language certification: 100 + courses and 40+ languages
